My Strengths and Weaknesses as an Essay Writer

My strengths and weaknesses as an essay writer begins with my thesis development. I have trouble developing a good, clear and strong thesis. My thesis' are usually hard to understand and I have difficulty trying to get my focus across to the reader. Although often the meaning of my thesis is unclear the problem may start with my guiding question. I know essays have to start somewhere and my english teacher always says to start with a question. I start thinking of questions that might help my brain come up with a idea for my thesis. Although my question is usually good I have trouble developing a thesis from that. My introductions are done fairly well most of the time because I can develop good sentences around my thesis. The only problem that I have trouble with is again my thesis, which is a major problem because the essay counts on that being strong. My essays are usually well organized on paper, because my arguments are noticeably easy to point out in the body of the essay. Speaking of my arguments I sometimes don't elaborate on them as well as people want me too. I have to expand on the idea so the meaning of the argument comes across easier to the reader. When I am trying to explain my arguments I sometimes repeat the ideas in different words, which leads to me rambling on about that certain idea, and it feels very repetitive. My transitions to the next arguments need some work because I always thought that once you conclude the previous argument you start a new paragraph and just begin the new argument without transitioning it nicely back to the last argument. I have realized this is wrong and will fix this in my next essay. Since beginning this class I didn't write citations properly, now that we had a lesson on it I think my citations in the next essay will be way better. The conclusions that I write are averagely written, I can clearly re-state the arguments but sometimes have trouble with giving a persuasive push back to the the logic of the argument. I can keep my language simple and direct so the reader doesn't get confused on understanding complicated phrases. Often I have trouble revising a paper because I find it difficult to change my own work from the first time I have written it. My brain often thinks that the work is already written well and I have trouble changing what I sometimes don't see. The goal that I am setting is too learn properly how to develop a thesis and make it strong so I can always join back my arguments.
